Dear Parents & Friends,
Preparations for next year are in full swing and this week we welcomed many new families to the College as we presented our ‘Orientation for New Families Years 5-12’. Kindergarten families will be welcomed next Tuesday evening. New staff will have the first of two orientation sessions on Wednesday next week. The College will continue to grow and for the 2022 academic year we will have a student population that exceeds 1250 students and a staff of approx. 120.
COVID restrictions have presented a number of challenges for the orientation for our new enrolments but we have tried to be innovative here. This has benefits for all. Our College website now has a 3D Virtual Tour that allows you to walk through our new facilities in a virtual way. This would be a great way for parents to check out the new buildings as you are not permitted to visit our site at the moment.
My thanks to Jaidon A (Year 9) & James K (Year 10) for representing the College at the Remembrance Day ceremony presented by Ingleburn RSL Sub Branch. Jaidon & James were outstanding representatives and took time to meet veterans & current serving defence force personnel. They also met with Anoulack Chanthivong, State Member for Macquarie Fields. RSL staff were so impressed with the boys, they presented them with a book on the Vietnam War for the College library. Well done Jaidon & James!

I hope you continue to receive God’s blessing.

Year 11 End of Preliminary Award Ceremony
Last Tuesday we had the opportunity to celebrate the Academic Excellence and Commitment to Learning of our Year 11 cohort. Whilst we were unable to celebrate as a whole community it was another important 'first' for the College. Students were recognised in each course for their academic achievement and/or their outstanding effort. As part of the reflection our students were called to 'not just aspire to make a living, but to aspire to make a difference'. They were prompted to work hard, preserve and meet challenges head on with an 'open heart' and an 'open mind'. We would like to congratulate the entire grade on their achievements thus far and wish them every success as they begin preparing for the HSC.

Christmas Hamper And Gift Appeal
Dear Parents/Carers,
Each year St Francis Catholic College teams up with Catholic Care to help support families in our local community over the Christmas period. We do this by collecting hamper items and gifts for those in need.
Each class from Kindergarten to Year 11 has been allocated a family in need, with students in each class being responsible for collecting items to make up a Christmas hamper for this family. You can help by giving your child a hamper item(s) to bring in to fill their class hamper.
Today students should have received a letter with the item(s) they have nominated to donate highlighted. All items must be unopened and within the expiry date. If you are unable to donate the highlighted item(s) your child nominated we would be happy for you to choose any item from the list. Donations will be accepted until Friday 3rd December 2021.
All donations can be sent in with your child for collection in K-4 classrooms and Years 5-11 during Pastoral class.
We are also collecting gifts to add some extra cheer to the hampers. If your family would like to purchase one or more gifts to support those in need, can you please complete the form below.
https://docs.google.com/forms/
Once we receive your response you will be sent an email to confirm the person(s) you have been allocated to purchase a gift for. A gift tag will also be sent home with your eldest child.
We ask that you consider an appropriate gift, wrap the gift, attach the label sent home with your eldest child and return to the College Reception via your child no later than Friday 3rd December 2021.
If you would like to see how the St Francis community contributed last year, please watch Catholic Care’s Merry Christmas and Thank You Video -

On other CAPA news, year 12 are well and truly on their way! It is important that you keep an open dialogue going with your child in regards to their commitment to Music &/ Drama if they are taking these subject/s as a HSC course. As you know both require major commitments to their Individual Project (Drama) and Performance pieces (Music). It is important that your child keeps up to date with goal setting and chunking of assessment tasks. On the music front, Ms Bugge’ is very impressed with the year 12 cohorts progress on their song choices for their performance &/ elective choices. Well done, year 12 Music!
As the conclusion of term 4 is coming up quite quickly, I would like to thank you for your support of the Arts at SFCC this year. We look forward to providing a plethora of opportunities for you child across all Arts domains in 2021 both inside and outside of the classroom.
Yours in Creativity,
Ms Allen
During Remote Learning students in Middle Years Learning had a number of challenges they could take part in. One of these was a photo competition about Spring. Geet in Year 6 was our winner with her image.
