FRIENDS OF FRANCIS MEETING RESCHEDULED
Given the upcoming CatholicCare presentations on 8th of September, it has been decided to move the next Friends of Francis meeting to this date (instead of 18th August. The meeting will commence at 5.30pm in the Staff Common Room.
Catholic Care Presentations will then commence around 6.15pm in the Library.
All parents/carers are invited to both.
CatholicCare presentations are valuable for parents/carers, and the two topics (face-to-face) are incredibly relevant for supporting students here at our College:
- Talking About Mental Health: A guide to having supportive, open conversations.
- Big Feelings, Calm Responses: Supporting children through emotional overwhelm.
These sessions are designed to support parents/carers with valuable insights and support our young people right across K-12. CatholicCare aims to enhance awareness, promote a safe environment for children and educate parents/carers with data-informed presentations.
We look forward to seeing you there on the night.
SFCC SUCCESS
Congratulations to our public speakers, who continue to dazzle. In the most recent example of this, both Asher A and Xanthe T-G represented us brilliantly at the Year 10 MISA Public Speaking Competition last week. Asher A, in fact, achieved 2nd Place in the Competition - a wonderful achievement against a very strong field.
Congratulations to Losaline (Ivy) M in Year 6, who has just finished competing over three days of highly competitive Netball representing in the NSWCC MacKillop Team. In sensational news, her team ended up running 3rd, and what’s more, Ivy has been selected in the NSW PSSA Team to compete in Ballarat later this year. Well done Ivy!
AN EVENING WITH YEAR 12 (MUSIC AND VISUAL ARTS)
Come along next Wednesday night 20th of August (6 - 7.30 pm) for a celebration of Year 12 Major Works in the areas of Music and Visual Arts. Unfortunately, the timing of completion and/or marking of Major Works in some other faculties doesn’t allow us to celebrate them in the same fashion, BUT it will be great to see (and hear) the work of our Year 12 Music and Visual Arts students.
CAMPBELLTOWN CATHOLIC CLUB – 59TH ANNUAL MASS & LUNCHEON
Last Sunday (11 August 2025), the Campbelltown Catholic Club celebrated its 59th Annual Mass and Communion Luncheon. The Mass was held at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Campbelltown, with Bishop Brian Mascord and Father John Ho co-celebrating the Eucharist.
Students from Macarthur Diocesan and Congregational schools, along with most principals from the region, were in attendance. We thank our Year 11 students, Arielle Zapanta and Jairus Parata, for representing our College. Both students met the Bishop and took part in the entrance procession, carrying a candle and placing it in the Church’s sacred space at the beginning of the Mass. Arielle also read a Prayer of the Faithful, and Jairus participated in the Offertory Procession.
Our College and the Diocese of Wollongong greatly value our strong relationship with the Campbelltown Catholic Club and acknowledge their long-standing generosity in supporting education across our region.
A photo from after the Mass is included below.
PRAYER FOR PEACE
Peace be with you.
God of peace,
Create in us a peace-filled heart, free from fear and anxiety.
Help us find quiet moments to be still, rest in Your presence, and trust in Your care.
Bring peace to our world — to nations in conflict, to communities in need, and to hearts that are troubled.
Assist us to act with love, forgiveness, and compassion, so we may live peacefully with others.
Guide us, through the example of St Francis of Assisi, to show respect and care for all of creation, living simply and joyfully as Your children.
In all our thoughts, words, and actions, help us be peacemakers, building the world You desire.
We ask this in the name of the Light of Christ, Spirit of Peace.
– Amen

"I am a Mallu": Athena J wins an Australian painting competiton by Capturing love for Kerala
Can you draw a Kerala autorickshaw, idli, dosa and sambar and win a prize in an Australian drawing competition?
We thought that Athena's artwork was a winning piece and subsequently entered it earlier this year in the Youth Week art competition organised by the NSW government.
She ended up winning in her age group.
Congratulations to Athena J on her entry - "I am a Mallu"

Term 3 MISA Sports Update
This term, our students are proudly representing the College in a variety of MISA sports, including 7–9 Girls Soccer, 7–8 Boys Soccer, 9–10 Boys Soccer, 7–8 Girls Netball, 9–10 Girls Netball, and 10–12 Boys Indoor Cricket.
The season is now underway, with teams beginning their draw games. Even with last week’s washout round, our players have already achieved some fantastic results. The 7–9 Girls Soccer, 7–8 Boys Soccer, 9–10 Girls Netball, and 10–12 Boys Indoor Cricket teams have each secured one win, while the 7–8 Girls Netball team has had an impressive start, winning both of their matches so far. The 9–10 Boys Soccer team is yet to take the field, but we look forward to seeing them in action soon.
We wish all our teams the very best for the remainder of the season and hope to see one (or more!) trophies make their way back to the College at the end of Term 3. Go St Francis!

Yr 10 PASS assist at Diocesan Primary West Region Athletics Championships
Year 10 PASS students engaged and assisted at the Diocesan Primary West Region Athletics Championships on the 8th of August, to help ensure the carnival ran fairly and successfully. By applying our PASS skills and abilities, we were able to assist event officials with duties such as marshalling, delivering scores, time keeping, precise measuring distances for field competitions, ensuring proper technique, offering advice and encouraging good sportsmanship among all competitors.
Whether contestants wanted to set personal records or just have fun, our PASS class urged all adolescents to take part and aim for excellence within each track and field event. We were able to help create a well-organised, enjoyable and positive atmosphere where each young individual athlete could give their absolute personal best performance by applying the guidelines and event planning skills we acquired in PASS to display and strive for effective engagement across the whole carnival.
