Dear Parents and Friends,
We are very excited to have Kinder & Year 1 students returning next week and look forward to the remainder of the students returning the week after! The College Leadership Team has met to plan our return, staff are fully vaccinated and our new classrooms, canteen and Hall will be up and running presenting many exciting changes for our school community.
I want to sincerely thank parents and carers for their support over the past few months of remote learning. It has been a challenging time for all. Perhaps it is a great opportunity for us to more fully appreciate the freedoms we have taken for granted and the opportunities that are presented at school.
We are beginning onsite learning with a number of safety measures in place and again ask for your support and patience. K-4 students will arrive to school a little later
(8:25-8:45am) and will be available for pick up in Carline a little earlier (2:15-2:40pm) to reduce congestion at peak times. If this does not work for parents with work commitments and/or siblings it is fine to bring them at regular times. We will provide supervision but if it is possible to support us, it would be greatly appreciated.
Similarly, it is really important that students and staff feel safe and supported when they return to school. We ask that all staff and students 7-12 wear masks. Whilst optional for K-6 students, it will be strongly encouraged. If your child is required to wear a mask and does not have one, they will be sent home for the safety and protection of all.
Since returning for Term 4, we have been extremely busy engaging in staff recruitment for 2022. I am delighted with the strong number of applications and the quality of candidates. Our College has developed an outstanding reputation and it is obvious that many teachers want to have an opportunity to teach your amazing children, in our amazing facilities and collaborate with our amazing staff. More on staff recruitment in our next newsletter.
This weekend, we will be releasing some amazing photos and videos of our new facilities on Facebook. I encourage you share these with your children to help get them excited about returning to school. Below are a couple of photos as a precursor.
I hope you enjoy.
Mr Simon Abernethy
College Principal

Families with students in Kindergarten - Yr 11
The Renaissance Reading program has been a great opportunity for students in our Middle Years to take control of their reading, and remains accessible whilst you are still learning from home. The SORA Online library (accessible via the SFCC Library Website) remains open and ready for borrowing whilst we are still remote learning. There is a wide range of fiction and non-fiction titles for all reading levels, digital readers, audiobooks, graphic novels and more to keep you reading during lockdown - aim to read for 15 minutes a day to keep your brain refreshed and well exercised!
A reminder to all students that when you finish reading a Renaissance book, be sure to log into the Renaissance AR Quizzes and complete the quiz for your book. Completing the quizzes will help you track your progress as a reader and let you know if you are improving, as well as allow you to earn STAR points to reach your target! Visit the Middle Years Website - Reading Hub for more information and access links.
STAR ☆ Readers
It has been a challenging and busy Term 3, but we have students who have been working hard at their reading whilst at home which is fantastic to see. The following students who have been recognised by their teachers for their reading achievements during remote learning - you are our ‘STAR ☆ Readers’ for the Term 3 and the SFCC reading community would like to congratulate you! Well done!
