Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to Term 3!
I extend a huge thank you for your support in getting students back to class and engaged in learning as normal as is possible in this challenging COVID world. I look forward to a day when the virus is not the focus of our communication.
I am pleased to report that the vast majority of students (over 800) returned on the first day of term and numbers have steadily increased each day this week to the point where almost all students have returned.
We have a robust COVID safe plan and are taking numerous measures to ensure the safety of all in our school community. A new innovation that we will be trialing is Parent Teacher interviews via Zoom in Week 4. This will allow parents and carers to meet teachers using video conferencing in the comfort of your own home. We have had strong support with many parents already booking interviews in.
We will be seeking your feedback as part of an evaluation at the end of the interview process.
Building Progress
Our Performance Centre is progressing very well and on track for occupation for the beginning of next term. Currently tradesmen are painting and over the next couple of weeks whiteboards, pinboards and acoustic paneling will be installed.
The College Hall is also progressing well with the Southern and Eastern retaining walls complete, soil will be back filled into the voids soon.
The image below shows the progress on the Hall.
Please keep an eye out this weekend on our Facebook page. We have something very exciting to show you all.
May God continue to bless you

Please find following message from Fr Bosco Son, Parish Priest at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, Macquarie Fields, regarding the suspension of Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation for this year due to COVID.
Dear Parents/Carers,
I am writing to inform the parents of Year 3 & Year 6 that, after consulting with our Sacramental Team at Mary Mother of the Church Macquarie Fields, I have decided to suspend the Sacraments of First Holy Communion (for Year 3 students and above) & Confirmation (for Year 6 students and above) for this year.
I trust you understand that, given our current situation with the Coronavirus pandemic, we simply cannot presume to be back to normal soon. Rest assured that your child will get to receive this beautiful Sacrament, but we will have to wait until next year. So, I ask your patience as we discern the best way forward.
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Bosco Son SVD

St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal
The St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal has been very successful so far! The St Francis Community are very generous.
We have had donations of winter woollies from all sections of the community ranging from students, parents, grandparents and also from members of the Country Women’s Association at Castle Hill! This appeal continues until the 31st July.
We remind you to wrap it up in clear packaging as a gift with a personalised note/card from the creator and then “Vinnies” will present each item to those in need via the Vinnies Van. If you cannot knit/crochet you are welcome to donate a scarf, beanie or blanket (unused) in the same way.
These items need to be handed in to your child’s pastoral teacher by Thursday 30th July.
Any queries please contact Mr Sligar.
This term, Kindergarten to Year 2 students will have the opportunity to participate in Dance Club. This club will run once every week. The students will be involved in learning a dance that they will perform next term.
More details will be provided closer to the date. Students will be invited to come to the initial dance club meeting next Tuesday where we will through the expectations with them. One of these being that they will need to attend every weekly practice in order to participate in the performance.
We cannot wait to work with these students and present their hard work and talent in the upcoming 'Performance Centre Unveiling'!
