Youth Ministry
On Monday 31st October and Tuesday 1st November, our Youth Engagement Leaders attended the Diocesan Youth Ministry Retreat. This retreat brought together student leaders from Catholic schools within the Diocese of Wollonong to be formed and upskilled as student leaders of Youth Ministry. Students developed knowledge and skills in the areas of prayer and worship, catechesis, evangelisation, pastoral care, leadership development, community life, justice and service and advocacy.
This is what our YEL's had to say about their time at retreat:
My experience was once in a lifetime. I shared a cabin with a group of new people who were inclusive and open minded. I was given support and had the opportunity to talk to a range of people. I feel privileged to be a YEL and have this new experience. I learnt a range of new skills - Hari (Year 10)
When we arrived I knew this was going to be fun. I met others in my cabin who were so nice and welcoming. This was a great start to being a YEL because I had the opportunity to learn from other student leaders and the retreat facilitators. I got a chance to learn who I am and my role as a YEL which has prepared me better to lead at the College. I would highly recommend this role to students who are interested in being a leader in the future - Adele (Year 9)
I liked the opportunity to connect with leaders from other schools and I got to see how leading others can build your confidence. I got to improve my communication skills and learnt how to lead a small group - Giselle (Year 9)
I liked making new friends who taught me how to open up to others. The advice I was given helped me to build my communication skills and better lead my peers - Neha (Year 9)
