This year Jaidon A, Josip L, and James K participated in the Sleek Geeks Science Eureka competition hosted by the university of Sydney and the Australian museum. This years topic was “big.” The students put together a 2 minute video presentation featuring a topic or concept of science related to big. They decided to do “100 years of science” communicating the major science discoveries, to a catchy tune. The students did extremely well receiving a highly commended award. 

This semester the 10iSTEM class has had the opportunity to work on the Generation STEM Liverpool STEM Community Partnerships Program offered through the CSIRO. Within this program students were provided with key problems that Liverpool Council will face within the next decade, from pollution through to health care. The students, in groups, were able to explore a problem of their choosing and develop a STEM based solution including a model that communicates their ideas. The students approached this program with enthusiasm and dedication, especially with the challenges of remote learning. On the 10th of November the students were able to participate in the virtual showcase, in which they presented their solution to the selected problem to members of Liverpool council, the CSIRO as well as other participating school students and teachers from the area. The students did a fantastic job in this showcase, communicating their solutions and the thought processes with professionalism and confidence. They should be very proud of the work they have put in their projects and the manner in which they conducted themselves on the showcase.
