St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal
The St Vincent de Paul Society is an organisation inspired by the acts of St Vincent de Paul, a 17th Century Catholic priest from France who dedicated his life to serve the poor. Likewise, the St Vincent de Paul Society aims to provide the basic facilities to the homeless and those in need of assistance.
Towards the end of term 2, St Francis held a winter appeal to support the work of the St Vincent de Paul Society Nagle Centre in Campbelltown. This centre assists those who require assistance with facilities such as a dining room where they can share a meal; toilets and showers to keep clean and a small classroom area with a library and computers for use.
As part of the winter appeal at St Francis, each grade received a designated group of items that they were asked to purchase and bring in to add to the school’s overall donation for the Nagle Centre. As a whole, the contribution from families made this appeal very successful and the College was able to donate dozens of bags of items to the Nagle Centre to support those in need. As a thank you, a mufti day was given to all students who had contributed during the appeal.
On delivering the donated items to the Nagle Centre, staff were overwhelmed by the generosity of families at the College and wished to extend their sincere thanks to all who supported the appeal.
