CAPA Corner
Hello Parents/Carers,
I have a number of exciting things to share with you in this edition of CAPA Corner. Our College is a very busy place and it is awesome to have so many great items to present to you.
Ed Square Performance
Congratulations to our Stage 2 choir led by Choral Mistress Eloise Autaud and our Middle Years Choir led by Choral Mistress Jade Weaver. These Choirs were asked to perform at the opening of Ed Square with a very short lead in to allow for preparations. Both groups rose to the occasion and were wonderful representatives of our College. The Stage 2 choir looked and sounded fantastic on screen and did a great job of singing accapela (which is no mean feat!). The Middle years Choir sang two songs including our School song composed by one of our very own music specialists and Creative arts teachers Miss Bugge. Thank you also to Mrs Blunden (also a music specialist and creative arts teacher at our College) for supporting the students by accompaning them on keys. Year 8 student Jamie S played guitar live and had a vocal feature. Well done, singers!
Performance Opportunity
Drum roll please…..
It is with extreme excitement that I present to you the SFCC Twilight performance for 2021.
The 2021 Twilight performance will be the College’s first full school performance. It’s goal is to give all students involved in CAPA clubs from Kinder to Year 11 the opportunity to perform a short work/s that they have rehearsed with their club teacher. This performance will be an indoor/ outdoor concert utlising the hall, the dance and drama studios, the band rehearsal room and the undercroft. There will be staggered performances over approximately one hour and will take place at ‘twilight’.
All CAPA clubs have been invited to perform an item at this event. The nature of this event will be informal and will assist with the development of the students' performance skills. Please put the following information in your calendar!
Date: Term 3, Thursday 9th of September
Time: Performance will be from 5.30 - 6.30pm
More information about this event will be released in Term three.
CAPA Clubs
Clubs have now ‘closed’ for the year. What that means is new members are unable to join as we now have a performance opportunity to work towards. I hope that you have had a talk to your child if they have any interest in getting involved in these awesome extra and co - curricular enrichment opportunities.
Instrumental Tuition
The instrumental program has been rolled out and it is wonderful to start to see students develop or extend their musical skills in the instruments of guitar, drums, bass and percussion. Nic Dresher is an experienced music tutor and we are thrilled to have him on board. Nic will also offer an instrumental ensemble as an additional opportunity for students to engage in music education in an ensemble setting for students in year 5 - 6. This opportunity is on Monday’s during Break 1.
Yours in Creativity,
Ms Allen
