Renaissance Reading at SFCC

image_3.jpg

In 2021, St Francis will continue to grow our reading comprehension through participation in the Renaissance Reading Program with students in Years 5-8.  The Accelerated Reader (AR) computer program helps teachers and parents manage and monitor children’s independent reading practice, by guiding students to select books at their own level and read at their own pace.  When they’re finished, students take a short online ‘Reading Practice’ quiz and receive feedback on their results to help them improve in their reading.

Students enjoy ‘voice and choice’ by having the chance to read for their own pleasure, as well as setting goals and tracking their own progress. Mostly, it's a great opportunity to hone in on our reading focus and unlock confidence and success in this area!

More information about the Renaissance Program, including links, is available for students on the ‘Middle Years Website’ on the READING HUB page.
