CAPA Corner #2
Hello parents, carers and students,
With the building of our Performance Centre now finished, we are getting more and more excited here in CAPA!
It is going to be an amazing time of transition for our curriculum Music classes. Students will enjoy being taught in specialist Music classrooms from Term 4, as well as our Stage 5 and 6 Drama classes being able to use the specialist Drama studio in 2021!
Despite all of the COVID related interruptions during Term 2 and into the start of Term 3, the CAPA club extra-curricular program had been humming along nicely. Prior to the new COVID procedures being released recently (which prevented multiple years/stages to participate in extra curricular activities together), many of the clubs had great numbers and it is clear that the students are ‘hungry for the arts.’
Other clubs which are at the beginning of their inception have passionate and eager students. It is through their bravery and enthusiasm that they are becoming the trail blazers for groups that no doubt will have massive numbers in the years to come.
Dance Clubs are becoming increasingly popular with huge numbers of students getting involved across the College. Check out the photo below of all the interests dancers in the K-2 Dance group! When permitted, we will be running these clubs for students in Year 3 - 10 with a range of different options available.
Although cut short, I commend the Year 7-10 dancers for committing to attend the after school performance troupe rehearsals on Thursdays from 2.45 - 3.45pm. Don't worry dancers, we will be back! The boys Hip Hop crew was starting to grow in numbers with great enthusiasm as well.
Varying numbers were attending the circus, drama and art clubs (casual attendance was allowed) but no doubt when we are able to consistently offer these opportunities to the students, numbers will grow again. There were solid numbers for our College band run by Miss Bugge’ and our College choir run by Mrs Weaver. Students in these groups get the opportunity to extend their skills in a number of ways. The school choir for instance are becoming better acquainted with how to use their diaphragms correctly.
Whether in Term 4 or in 2021, it is going to be exciting to use the new specialist spaces in our performance centre to extend the students performing arts skills. When we are back up and running, clubs will be led by a range of teachers from across the College and notices will be re-sent out to students via email and Compass to inform them of the location and day that each club will be running on.
Yours in creativity,
Ms Allen
Leader of CAPA
