Fundraising Initiative - Solar Buddies Project
We are excited to share with you a special initiative led by our Year 5 students as part of their commitment to community service and global citizenship.
As part of our support for the Solar Buddies project which aims to help children living in energy poverty our Year 5 students have been working hard to design and run lunchtime games for students across Kindergarten to Year 6. These games will take place during Break 1 in Week 4, from Monday 11th of August to Friday 15th of August.
-
Years 3–6 will attend on Monday and Wednesday
-
Kindergarten to Year 2 will attend on Tuesday and Thursday
-
Friday’s participating year group is still to be confirmed
For just $1, students will receive two tokens which they can use to play any two games, with each game costing one token. All money raised will go towards purchasing solar-powered lights.
These solar lights will be built by our Year 5 students and sent to children in communities that experience energy poverty. This hands-on service opportunity allows our students to see the real-world impact of their actions.
This initiative is a wonderful opportunity for our Year 5 students to give back by volunteering their break time, and to grow in their leadership, creativity, collaboration, and sense of purpose.
We also warmly invite families to support this initiative by making a donation using the QR code on the attached poster or at this link to donate: https://illuminatestem.
When donating, you’ll be able to choose to contribute to a specific Year 5 class or to the general SFCC Solar Buddies fund.
Thank you for supporting our students in making a meaningful difference both locally and globally.
