SFCC's Proud Moment
Excellence on the National Stage: Student A Shines at VETiS WorldSkills Competition
We are proud to celebrate the remarkable achievement of one of our Year 12 students, Stephanie Grant, who recently competed in the 2025 VETiS WorldSkills National Competition held in Brisbane. Representing not only SFCC but the Diocese of Wollongong and greater NSW in the Hospitality – Food and Beverage category, Stephanie showcased professionalism, technical finesse, and grace under pressure—earning an outstanding 7th place finish among competitors from across Australia, including both secondary schools and TAFE institutions.
The VET in Schools (VETiS) Food and Beverage Competition is designed to mirror real industry standards, giving students the chance to demonstrate high-level skills in food and non-alcoholic beverage service, customer service, hygiene practices, and workplace health and safety. Over three intense days and 15 hours of competition, Stephanie was required to complete a range of practical tasks, including:
-
Serving food and beverages
-
Preparing and serving non-alcoholic beverages
-
Preparing and serving espresso coffee
-
Interacting with customers in a professional manner
-
Applying hygiene practices to ensure food safety
This achievement is a direct result of Stephanie’s exceptional work ethic and commitment to learning. Her efforts in preparing for and performing at this competition are to be commended and serve as an inspiration to her peers and cohorts years to come.
