Year 7 MasterChef Heats Up with Collaboration, Creativity and Community Spirit
In an exciting first for SFCC, our Year 7 students took part in the inaugural Year 7 MasterChef, and what an outstanding success it was! With 40 enthusiastic students stepping up to the challenge, the event showcased not only impressive culinary talents but also the collaborative and pastoral strengths that define our college community.
Working individually and some in small teams, students were tasked with creating, baking, and presenting their dishes to a panel of student judges. The atmosphere was filled with energy and excitement as students supported one another, shared ideas, and worked together to "cook up a storm." This event provided a unique opportunity for students to build teamwork skills, foster positive peer relationships, and develop confidence in a fun and meaningful way. I thank the families who allowed their children to prepare their creations at home.
The judging panel – made up of fellow Year 7 students – offered thoughtful and encouraging feedback. It was wonderful to see the mutual respect and support as judges recognised the effort and creativity behind each dish.
The students who baked demonstrated not only skill in the kitchen but also commitment to the College’s wider life. Their culinary creations were nothing short of outstanding and reflected innovation, attention to detail, and genuine passion. Each student involved should be incredibly proud of their efforts.
Adding to the spirit of the occasion, all funds raised went directly to the Winter Appeal, reflecting our College's ongoing commitment to service and social justice. Through their contributions, our Year 7 students have not only supported each other but also extended compassion to those in need.
Well done to all students involved in this wonderful initiative – your teamwork, creativity, and generous hearts truly made this event one to remember!
