Message from our College Principal Mr McMahon

Pirate Day

Thank you to all of the students and staff who participated wholeheartedly in Monday’s ‘Dress Like a Pirate Day’.

A fabulous array of costumes and much creativity was displayed on the day.

I am delighted to advise that over $1500 was raised for research into children’s brain cancer.

Well done!

Athletics Carnivals

It's athletics season again.

Congratulations to all secondary students involved in last week’s secondary athletics carnival at Campbelltown Athletics Stadium.

Our Year 12s dressed in various costumes, themed Heroes and Villains, and entered the day with much spirit and enthusiasm.

It is also clear that the quality of our athletic performances continues to improve, only matched by the wonderful College spirit on display.

I wish all students who qualified for the Diocesan Carnival the best.

We look forward to next week’s Primary Carnival!

UPDATE: FRIENDS OF FRANCIS POSTPONED TILL MONDAY WEEK 8 (JUNE 17)

I'm sorry, but the Friends of Francis meeting planned for Week Six has had to be moved back to Monday, Week Eight (17th June).

An agenda will be shared in the next Newsletter. This delayed time will allow for draft constitutional documents to be completed and for facilitator nominations to be finalised. The College will contact all attendees of the year’s first meeting (and those who sent apologies) in the coming week.

All parents/carers are welcome to attend the meeting in Week 8.

Prayer for the Most Rev Bishop Emeritus Peter Ingham

We pray for the repose of the soul of Bishop Emeritus Peter Ingham, the Bishop of Wollongong, between 2001 and 2017. Bishop Peter was responsible for significant growth and development across the Diocese in numerous ways. Indeed, Bishop Peter was highly influential in the early days of Saint Francis Catholic College.  Thousands of people across the diocese farewelled Bishop Peter last Friday at St Francis Xavier Cathedral and various digital viewing sites across Wollongong. Bishop Peter is much loved and will be missed.

Paying tribute to the impact Bishop Peter had on the Diocese of Wollongong, the current bishop of Wollongong, Bishop Brian Mascord said: “Bishop Peter was a spiritual father of the Illawarra, Macarthur, Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands. We offer him a heartfelt ‘well done, good and faithful servant’ (Matthew 25:23), and we take comfort in the sure hope that we now have another advocate in the presence of our Lord praying for the needs and salvation of the people of God in the Diocese of Wollongong. “A man of God—a man for the people. May his noble soul rest in peace.”

I’ve included the prayer on Bishop Peter’s prayer card here:

Grant, we pray, almighty God, that the soul of your departed servant Bishop Peter, to whom you committed the care of your family, may, with the manifold fruit of his labours, enter into the eternal gladness of his Lord. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Prayer cards are available at the College office.
