On Friday 10th of May, Year 11 Legal Studies students embarked on an excursion to Cabramatta Police Station for a tour. Students experienced the interior of the police station through an in-depth guided tour provided by police officers themselves. Students walked through the reception into the back area, where they gained insight into the various roles within the police force. They observed officers working on police statements and recording and monitoring rooms for custody. They listened to an officer report on previous cases, including drug finds and break-ins. A student even gave her fingerprint scans in! Students saw the holding cells and listened to the process of admission for an offender. There was a BAS room where offenders potentially get charged for drink-driving. The most memorable part may have been the outside part, where students were able to receive a gift bag with merchandise, see the emergency SES teams, conduct a hand-grip level test, get into the many police vehicles and have many photo opportunities. Students even said hello to Senior Constable Charlie (a penguin). Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience!
